Pool Monitors On Watch

The Lantana Community Association is keeping a closer eye on neighborhood pools this summer with the addition of pool monitors.

The monitors, employed by Bearfoot Management, are at the pools in Heritage, Sandlin, and Larkspur Monday through Friday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., and weekends from noon to 10 p.m.

"They are there when our office is closed so they can help us keep an eye on the pools," said Lantana Community Association Manager, Mark Norton.

The monitors sign-in each visitor and ensure that non-residents are not crashing the pools.

"We were having instances of young children accessing the pools by themselves as well as teenagers cussing, horse playing, and not being considerate," said Norton. "Those problems have gone away this summer."

The monitors also check the chlorine and can alert the pool service company to any issues on a timely basis. Norton said that the monitors are not there to perform lifeguard services but some of them do have that training.

The Association also installed security cameras at the pools.

"Lantana has grown and we want things to stay enjoyable for the residents and make sure that they can enjoy the pools in a safe environment," added Norton.
