Thrifty Thursdays

Let’s be honest, fair food is definitely a major reason to not miss this experience. With a new fried sensation every year, they keep the Texas standard of “bigger and better” going up and up. This years fried phenomenon is the fried cheeseburger basket and don’t forget about the Coco Rita to wash it down with! This year the State Fair is offering Thrifty Thursdays. Participating vendors will bring you your favorite signature fair foods at fantastic discounts. Bring your Lantana families and get of your all your items on a stick, every “dog” you can imagine, and your fried Thanksgiving sample at crazy yummy prices!

Mattress Firm Illumination Sensation

This amazing display is definitely one that will leave you speechless. Feast your eyes upon a 700 foot long reflecting pool consisting of nearly 300 water jets, traditional and LED lighting, screen projections, pattern animations, pyrotechnics and fireworks. This enormous display of fountains, acrobats, music and vivid color is outstanding and a must-see. Have the opportunity to be wowed nightly at 8:00pm.

New Cars & Trucks Auto Show

The State Fair of Texas is the proud home of the largest new car auto show in the southwest. This show not only includes approximately 400 of the latest models from the world’s leading manufacturers but you can also enjoy fun interactives & live entertainment. Whether you’re a die-hard gearhead or just need an afternoon out with the family, this is a fun event for anyone.

AT&T Red River Showdown

Only a couple weeks until the biggest rivalry around will duke it out. Since 1929 the Texas Longhorns and the Oklahoma Sooners have battled it out at the Cotton Bowl Stadium in one of the most major college football games of the season. This University of Texas and University of Oklahoma rivalry has created a staple to not only the DFW metroplex but the State Fair of Texas as well. The exciting event will be taking place Saturday October 10th and purchase of tickets will include admission to the State Fair of Texas on game day.
